1-48TACTIC - Fall Update
over 3 years ago – Wed, Sep 23, 2020 at 12:46:36 PM

Hi guys,

summer’s over, wheels are spinning fast and we are finally get in sight of the end!

The MG42 for the German Volksgrenadiers has just been released and the Bazooka team for the US airborne is only waiting for replacement cards, as the ones we have been sent are defective (they forgot to clip the corners apparently). Should be here next week anyway.

With that, unless your pledge included the US infantry starter pack, a reinforcement pack or the Lanzerath Ridge Mission Pack your reward is on its way and should be delivered to you shortly!

In any case, I will not risk setting a final due date again, since it seems that every time I do that something apocalyptic happens to thwart our plans (and with the global plague done already I’m afraid to summon an asteroid next!) but let’s just say both the US infantry starter pack and reinforcement packs should be ready in a matter of weeks from now...

For those who have been following the March campaign, all the rewards for that have now shipped, so that is done too.

Now my part in this project is nearly over at last, so we have decided it’s time to start the new campaign for cards only: themed theatre starter decks which will allow you to play with forces up to several platoons in size and also introducing new Tactic cards and Officers (which are needed for keeping the game running smoothly with so many figures on the table). Some additional rules for these are required and a beta version is now available for free download in the website rules page. If you fancy commanding a larger force, check them out here:

http://1-48tactic.com/rules.htm#CCv0.1  (look at the very bottom right of the page!)

Mind you, you do not need any of this new stuff to keep playing the game! This is all just additional optional stuff and we are committed to continue to support the game as it is now and keep releasing new figures for it!

The main drive behind this new project however is to bring you cards to play with lots of new factions  and lots of figures (for those who like also larger games) much faster than we could possibly do otherwise, because doing the cards only takes a fraction of the time it will take us to make also all the miniatures for them!

So yes, we definitively are doing the miniatures for all the new factions too, this is just a way to get you rolling dice right away while you wait for slow old me to sculpt all of them!

The pre-launch page is now active at this link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1-48tactic/1-48tactic-cards-only-ww2-skirmish-gaming-goes-global

We should launch in a day or two, as soon as I’m 100% confident that doing it could not possibly cause any further delay in fulfilling this project first!

That’s all for now, so thank you once again for all your support and patience, and see you there!

Cheers,

Claudio

July update: the day after
almost 4 years ago – Mon, Jul 06, 2020 at 02:56:41 PM

Hi guys,

time for a new update, so let’s dive right in! first of all, the two new figures mentioned last month are now out:

Actually Gerhart is not on the website yet, but is in stock and it has started shipping to retailers, will add it to the online shop this week!

With things finally returning to some sort of normality (except for the widespread shipping delays I mean) we are again able to put new figures in production, and the next one is the double pack MG42

Figures and resin scenic bases are already in stock (these are actual production castings, except for the glow-in-the-dark k98) and I hope to send the cards to print this week

As you can see the pack also include a second MG to use as a marker in case the crew is killed or the weapon is abandoned

it fits on a 25mm round base (just!) but you are of course free to base it as you like… just keep in mind that the larger the base the easiest will be to get to it!

Unfortunately I had to reprint several masters to replace molds that started to show some sign of wear, but next week will be back at printing new models, and the first out is the bazooka team, of course!

Also, we just got the samples for the US infantry dice, and they are great! These should be ready to ship from China in a couple of weeks or so… the resin terrain for that starter pack is in production already, will get the masters for the figures printed as soon as the bazooka team is done...

Meanwhile, as you already know if you followed the campaign for cards only, those are just gone to print and should arrive here around the end of the month. As soon as the rewards for that start to ship we will fire up the campaign to add cards only for a dozen or more of new factions! i If you haven’t seen it yet, you can take a sneaky peek at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1-48tactic/1103383885?ref=7gq2pp&token=630d41d3

The link above will redirect to the live project after launch.

Cheers!

Post-Apocalypse update
almost 4 years ago – Wed, Jun 03, 2020 at 08:27:56 AM

Hi guys, time for a new quick update, so let's get to it! (and apologies if you already got it on the "Cards Only" campaign page!)

In general, apparently the universe is still here and things have more or less returned to normality...

we finally got the printed rulebooks for the vehicle supplement, and that is out now. (available on the website, will do the public release today). There will be a free QRS available for free download which sums up all new abilities covered, in case you get some characters that features some of them, but you are not interested in getting the full book... any doubt, just ask on the forum or on the facebook page!

Next week we should finally get the metal to start casting the new figures, and the cards for the first two of them are in print already, so that should soon start moving again too...

We still haven't got the rubber for doing new molds, but I had assurances that will be on its way in a matter of days now... here is hope!

As for the May KS, as you may have noticed it hasn't happened yet... :) As a matter of facts the campaign is set up and already approved, and you are welcome to take a sneaky peek at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1-48tactic/1103383885?ref=7gq2pp&token=630d41d3

Anyone with the link above can preview the campaign draft and participate in feedback, for which we are always very grateful!

The only reason we have not launched it as planned is that with the delays caused by the pandemic closure we still haven't been able to finish sending out the wave 2 rewards for this campaign, nor send the cards for the mini test one in March to print yet, so we felt it was not right to ask for funding a new project while those are still open. In a couple of weeks we should have the cards  for the March mini test campaign ready to print and the wave 2 rewards for he original campaign starting getting fulfilled once again, so at that point will go live with the new one...

That's all for now, as always any and all comments are most welcome!

Cheers,

Claudio

1-48TACTIC KICKSTARTER Update 17 April 2020
about 4 years ago – Fri, Apr 17, 2020 at 08:32:00 AM

Hi all,

apologies for the long overdue update, but, as you probably already know, things have been a bit hectic over here lately… anyway, let’s start with good news: we are all still alive and well! Hurray! :)

Unfortunately, as you are also probably aware, due to the current pandemic all non-essential businesses (including us, since apparently someone still consider tabletop gaming non essential, if you can believe that!) have been ordered to close down by the government last month, and are only now gradually starting to reopen. We can operate to a limited capacity (one person at a time in the workshop) but we have been unable to source most of the supplies we need to work for over a month now, so I’m afraid that once again I have to tell you that there will be yet another delay, and once again I’m truly sorry but it is for reasons completely out of our control and there is nothing we can do about it… I know you are probably tired to hear this by now, but it is the way it is… please believe me when I say we are doing absolutely everything we can to finally finish this odyssey!

Now, that said we do expect things to gradually return to normality from now on, and meanwhile I have been working from home, so things have gone ahead anyway: as you can see all 3D models are ready (except for the last two special figures for the Lanzerath Ridge mission pack, which are also 85% done now).

Of all these figures, the ones that are not already in production either already have the 3D masters ready or we are printing them (or better we were printing them, we will restart printing them as soon as we can get hold of some isopropyl alcohol which has become rather hard to find lately!).

As soon as possible (2-3 weeks time) we should be able to start making new molds again and finally begin to put all the remaining figures in production. (In case you wonder, this is because the supplier for the molds rubber has just re-opened and confirmed me today that they are able to send us what we need, but it will take approximately 2-3 weeks before we will get them here because they have no stock left themselves now, so they need to resupply first, make the specific rubber we need and then send it over, and transports are still extremely stretched out at the moment so there will be a few days delay in every step…)

Because of the above, for the time being we have decided that the best thing to do is temporarily freeze all plans for doing British figures. Again I’m very sorry about it, but at this point it I think it would not be responsible nor correct to ask people for funding something we can not even start working on right now. Beside we were expecting to have all the above either released or at least in production by now, and I should have been free to work on the British from next month. Regrettably this is not the case, and although we all hope things are going to improve soon, I simply don’t believe it is right to even start working on any other model until all remaining wave 2 have shipped.

This bring us to May: we planned a kickstarter campaign for the British starter set, and as part of the promotion we had organized for it, the May issue of Miniature Wargames Magazine (featuring yours truly artwork on the cover!) will contain a free 1-48TACTIC Character card for British Commandos and include a campaign divided in several scenario playable as a sequence of games… To be honest I would hate to waste all of this promotional work we have already done and paid for, so we are thinking to do a kickstarter campaign anyway, but for cards only, like the mini test one we did last month. That showed that there is great interest in the cards only concept, and since that does not require any miniature I’m confident it will not cause any further delay in the remaining stages of production required for wave 2 shipping.

In general we are planning to do cards faction decks and theater battle packs which will include 2 of the above matched faction decks plus a themed expansion deck. However I have not even started working out the details for it yet, because before committing to do it I want to be 100% sure everyone here is happy with it, so if you have any doubt or question feel free to comment about it now!

This is it, thank you again for all your amazing patience and support, stay safe and take care!

Cheers,

Claudio Berni
